ThoughtWorks University

ThoughtWorks University (TWU) is our training and mentorship program for graduate new hires. This India-based six-week long course, is a learning opportunity on both sides; for the graduates to learn about ThoughtWorks practices and for us to learn how to mentor those with less experience but equal aptitude. The mentoring relationship is something that we ThoughtWorkers take a great deal of pride in, and all of the trainers at TWU are ThoughtWorkers .

'ThoughtWorks University is an unrivaled experience. I learned loads of new information, was immersed in another culture, met people from all over the world, all while attempting to explore India. It's an opportunity not to be missed.'

Neeti Malhotra, Business Analyst

Why have a University?

ThoughtWorks is a place where practices and values quickly spread across the entire company. We value experience and challenges, because we learn from them, and we enjoy sharing what we learn with other ThoughtWorkers. Sharing and growing from these experiences was easy when ThoughtWorks was small, but collaboration and learning is more complex now that we’re spread across five continents.

We developed ThoughtWorks University to help new joiners fail fast. By engaging you in learning experiences drawn from across the company, you'll discover the values, principles, and practices that have made ThoughtWorks successful.

Most importantly, graduates have long been a part of ThoughtWorks' culture. You’re a source of energy and you challenge our thinking by offering fresh perspectives on existing problems. We’ve been doing college recruiting since 1997and some of these earliest hires are now Managing Directors and technical leaders with our business.

How will I learn?

ThoughtWorks University is a six-week long consultant training program, made up of facilitated class-room sessions and individual performance coaching and review. Our aim is to provide you with an opportunity to explore the issues faced everyday on our projects and in our community. You'll discover the confidence to be professional consultants and take an active role in shaping the ThoughtWorks culture .

We believe that people learn best by doing, so we will throw you into the deep end as soon as possible. Don’t be alarmed; you’ll have the support of experienced ThoughtWorks’ consultants to guide you through your journey. We’ll show you some of the scenarios we face on-site with our customers through a project simulation. When we’re not simulating a project, we teach you by using a combination of games, role-playing activities, and case studies to facilitate your learning.

We also know that it’s important to balance individual needs with that of the group. That's why the trainers are also your coaches during your time at ThoughtWorks University. You'll meet with your coach to set goals for the term and discuss what you can do in specific circumstances to accelerate your learning. You'll have opportunities to chat with your coach each week, ask for feedback on your performance, and set personal goals for the following week.
