From the beginning, ThoughtWorks has been determined to hire only the people who make our business a better place to be and who have a lasting impact on our clients.
We are serious about being a home for the best knowledge-workers in the world. ThoughtWorkers come in all shapes and sizes; our intern and graduate hiring is there to discover the ThoughtWorkers of the future, while our lateral hiring is about uncovering those people who can have a more immediate impact on our clients and teams.
Being a ThoughtWorker isn’t for everyone. Our hiring process is designed to find those who have the passion, creativity, values and problem-solving skills to flourish in our non-hierarchical, agile culture.
Hiring is our signature process, so as you might expect, we’ve thought hard about how we assess your suitability for a career with us. We believe we’ve created a process that is fun, that shows you what being a ThoughtWorker is all about and challenges your abilities. Many hiring processes consist of a couple of interviews and perhaps a chance to meet your new boss. We reject that. We want to find out what work environment suits you, what you value and how you do your job, so we don’t just sit and ask you questions. We get you to show us what you can do.
The guiding principle is to find out what you want to do, what makes you tick and what unique skills and experience you can bring to us.
Once you’ve introduced yourself to us, your resume/CV will be reviewed by a member of our recruiting team. If we like what we see, we’ll be in touch to set up an initial telephone interview. Our recruiters are the guardians of our culture and this first interview is where we determine if ThoughtWorks is a good match for you, and vice versa. We want to agree that your attitude, values, experience, motivations and logistics are a good fit.
If everything looks positive, we’ll ask you to spend some more time with us. Depending upon which role you’re applying for and where in the world you are, we might get you to do a more technical telephone interview at this stage, write some code for us or come into the office and meet us.
Being buzzword compliant doesn’t mean you’re going to be a great ThoughtWorker, so your time in the office is there to find out what you already know and your capacity to learn. We’ll generally start with some assessments, designed to find out more about your cognitive reasoning and problem solving skills. You’ll meet a wide variety of ThoughtWorkers; technical interviews with people who do what you do, cultural and values interviews with the different people who make up our teams. We like to work our schedule around yours, so you may make multiple trips to the office, or you might decide to cram it all into one day.
It’s impossible for us to tell you what your hiring process will look like exactly. We live our values and being an agile business means that sometimes we’ll add or take away an interview so that we can make sure we’re assessing your full potential and skills.
If we’ve piqued your interest, why not apply online now and take the first step to becoming a ThoughtWorker?
