Guo Xiao

President and Chief Executive Officer

I joined ThoughtWorks in 1999 as a Programmer. I spent many years programming in various languages and helping customers develop software products. Around 2004, I went back to China and helped to establish and grow the China business unit for ThoughtWorks, providing services for both local and global customers. During that period, I spent more time developing operation, strategy and leadership skills, and served as the Managing Director of ThoughtWorks China. In 2011, I took over the Managing Director role of the Asia Pacific Region and served as First Among Equals of the Service and Operation Group, working with the global leadership team to grow the Professional Service business across the globe. Early 2013, I was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of ThoughtWorks and have been serving the company in that role since then. I am currently based in Chicago and travel a lot. My favorite thing to do is reading books, and, if I am not traveling, watching my 8-year-old son playing ice hockey.

The thing I love most about my work is

the opportunity to learn new things.

The most interesting thing I've learned on the job is

The best advice I can give a current or future ThoughtWorker is

be curious, read widely, try new things.
