Deepa, recently scripted history by winning the silver medal at the Rio Paralympics, in the women’s shotput F53 event. This win makes her India’s first woman and oldest athlete to ever win a medal at the Paralympics.

Deepa has also been conferred with the President’s Role Model award, and the NITI Aayog award for Women Transforming India. Deepa has taken it upon herself to beat the prejudices that society places on women or the specially-abled.
