Internal Communications Lead

Iasi, Romania

The internal communications lead for Europe works closely with the European leadership team to manage and execute internal communication campaigns that are synchronized with global activities. You will report into the global head of internal communications and be a core member of the global internal communications team which is part of the wider corporate brand and communications team.

Job responsibilities

  • Ensure that company values and business plans are clear and actively communicated to ensure awareness and excitement about the future of Thoughtworks.
  • Translate Thoughtworks regional or functional business strategy and goals into internal communications and engagement plans. This will include working collaboratively with a number of teams across the business including the regional or functional leadership team, People (HR), marketing as well as the regional heads of technology, Demand (sales), finance, legal, DEISSC (diversity & inclusion), risk & compliance and M&A amongst others.
  • Ensure that internal comms is the glue that brings Thoughtworkers together, lifts morale and celebrates our culture and values. 
  • Juggle a large internal communications portfolio with multiple streams and stakeholder groups. Have enviable organizational skills and the ability to ruthlessly prioritize and manage the expectations of senior leaders along the way.
  • Support local crisis management and develop ‘issues’ response communications for internal distribution – and play a role in promoting and ensuring visibility of compliance related communications and exercises for local employees.
  • Develop content across all internal communications channels, in a variety of formats (video, email, blogs etc), including strong drafts of written communications for senior leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with the Knowledge Management, marketing and corporate communication teams to review existing internal communications channels with a view to improving efficacy and cut through.
  • Streamline processes and improve ways of working that increase efficiency and quality of internal communications in the regions.
  • Ensure compliance across Thoughtworks’ internal communications channels to relevant policies and guidelines such as corporate communications policy, writing guide, GDPR and brand.
  • Measure the effectiveness of internal campaigns and use this data to improve our overall approach to communication.

Job qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Adopt a highly customer-centric and commercial approach to understand stakeholders and the business more broadly before putting forward internal communications plans and solutions.
  • Work with and coach members of the regional or functional leadership teams as appropriate on their communications with employees.
  • As appropriate, challenge and influence regional leadership but also know when it’s best to flex or ask for more direction and support.
  • Co-manage organization-wide communications activity, working closely with office managers, technical assistants, leadership teams and other Thoughtworkers supporting comms, change and knowledge management.
  • Further strengthen and develop relationships and the trust needed to be viewed as a thought partner to stakeholders. This is particularly critical when determining how best to communicate challenging topics to Thoughtworkers in the region.
  • Work collaboratively with the employer brand marketing team to shape the employee engagement strategy, through various channels, to drive employee retention.
  • Work closely with marketing functions to deliver integrated campaigns for internal audiences. Support major customer marketing, employer brand marketing and brand campaigns such as service lines, domains and talent programs that help deliver the company's business goals.
  • Participate in meetings and voice concerns as well as suggestions for improvement. Also when ideas have been accepted and agreed then deliver and execute ideas in a timely fashion. 
  • Absorb and synthesize large amounts of information to distill the core messages we want to get across to all Thoughtworkers in the region and then create and execute on the plan to deliver the messages. 
  • Through journalistic storytelling, help Thoughtworks celebrate its cultivating culture by informing, involving and inspiring everyone in the same way we’ve done before through things like the Why and Where initiatives.

Professional Skills

  • Fluent in both spoken and written English - ideally a native English speaker.
  • Internal comms lead with more than five years’ experience, ideally in a technology environment.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders to create communication campaigns for strategic change and business programs.
  • The ability, confidence and authenticity to provide expert advice to stakeholders.
  • Great project management skills and ability to initiative projects and work autonomously.
  • Exceptional written, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to connect with a diverse audience from senior technologists to new Gen Z entrants.
  • The ability to curate content from various internal sources, to tell a coherent story.
  • Familiarity with video, content and social networking platforms to replicate those usage patterns locally. Hands-on experience creating multimedia assets like podcasts and video would be a bonus.
  • Enthusiastic and self-directed, with strong project management skills, initiative and autonomy and the ability to execute, coordinating multiple work streams in parallel.
