Consultant: Infrastructure Engineer

Chengdu, China

Infrastructure Engineers help clients build and evolve systems that client organizations use to deliver and run software. They are comfortable working within teams of people with diverse roles and levels of experience to find solutions that meet the needs of the organization. They combine technical expertise and understanding with consideration of different situational needs. They champion technical quality and effective ways of working as a means to better outcomes for clients, rather than an end in themselves. They help clients to understand agile ways of working and DevOps as a mindset for collaboration.

Job responsibilities

  • Design & Implementation: Participate in the design, development, and deployment of cloud solutions, primarily within the GCP ecosystem (with exposure to Azure or AWS beneficial). This includes leveraging automated orchestration and configuration management techniques.
  • Infrastructure Management: Assist in deploying and configuring cloud resources, managing services, and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Automation & DevOps: Support and contribute to DevOps practices, including continuous delivery automation and the integration of cloud-native services to create efficient delivery pipelines.
  • Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify and troubleshoot issues, track resource utilization, and set up alerts for proactive problem detection.
  • Security & Compliance: Support security and compliance initiatives by following best practices and contributing to the design and implementation of secure enterprise cloud architectures (e.g., Kubernetes, Firewall, Routing, NAT, Terraform, LoadBalancer, Storages, DB).
  • Collaboration & Documentation: Actively participate in team discussions, contribute to detailed design documentation, and provide status updates to team members and supervisors.
  • Learning & Growth: Continuously learn and adapt to new development processes and tools, stay updated on industry trends, and enhance technical knowledge through training and feedback.

Job qualifications

Technical Skills

  • BS or MS in computer science or related engineering disciplines.At least 1-5 years of work experience as a Cloud/DevOps/System Engineer with proficient know-how in GCP (preferred, Azure or AWS beneficial); cloud certifications are a plus.
  • Foundational understanding of cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), basic networking, and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience in scripting or programming concepts (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with cloud monitoring tools to track resource utilization and identify performance issues.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices, including securing cloud resources, access control, and data encryption.
  • Understanding of cloud computing fundamentals like IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of Windows client/server and Linux, Domain Controller, DNS, Firewall.

Professional Skills

  • Proficient English communication skills (both spoken and written) are required to interact with international colleagues.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate questions, concerns, and provide status updates.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning and problem-solving, with the ability to manage personal workload and meet deadlines efficiently.
