“云原生”一词最初用于描述最大限度利用公有云托管的架构。例如由许多小型、无状态和协作流程组成的分布式架构，以及具有高度自动化的构建、测试和部署能力的系统。然而，我们注意到越来越多 肤浅的云原生 设计，简单地大量使用云供应商提供的专有服务，而没有注意到应用程序其实是大单体、脆弱且笨重的。要注意的是，无服务函数本身并不能使应用程序更具弹性或更易于维护。云原生实际上是架构设计，而非对于实现方式的选择。
