The thing I love most about my work is that I'm responsible for engaging with the most diverse communities in the world and free to make my mark.
The thing I'm most proud of from my time here is
Since I've arrived at ThoughtWorks, I've been a sponsor, participant, and ecosystem-builder in technology, activist, and social justice arenas.
Over the years I've had the privilege of connecting with aligned groups and organizations across the globe. I am proud that I'm able to continue a shared mission to revolutionize the IT industry and create positive social change, and help grow this community of passionate, purpose-led individuals.
More so, I'm proud to be a board member of two organizations that were born within the walls of ThoughtWorks, and grew because of conversations I could help facilitate: The Nano Hacker Academy, based in New York City and iamtheCODE, based in London. Both organizations help young people find their identities in the digital world through friendship, mentorship, and tech education. nanohackers.org | iamthecode.org
One of the most interesting stories I recall from my time at ThoughtWorks was when
Oh man, it has to be the time when I built a fort in our NYC office and the minister of health from Bangladesh wanted his photo taken with it... Or the time when the original Rafiki from 'The Lion King' on Broadway sang traditional South African celebration songs at one of our book launch events... Or the time when we brought Oliver Stone to talk about and premiere his film, 'Snowden' the week before it hit theaters... Or maybe when we finally realized that brainwaves could actually control a drone... Or that time when I asked a street artist with extreme politically-charged views to use our office as "a safe place to create"... wowzas.
With ThoughtWorks, I've visited
Agra, Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Delhi, Denver, Houston, Liverpool, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Park City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Toronto, Washington D.C..
