Morrisons is Getting Fit for the Future

The way people shop for food is changing rapidly: from placing orders and scheduling deliveries from a smartphone to desiring personalized in-store deals and smaller, more convenient store options.  Forward-thinking retailers are responding by opening convenience stores much more aggressively, and by investing in infrastructure and new online offerings.

For example, building on its strategy to drive efficiencies throughout all areas of its business, the UK supermarket chain Morrisons is getting fit for the future by moving from systems rooted in the 1980s.

And Thoughtworks is helping.

The Electronic Order Pad we built for Morrisons replaces paper forms and allows employees to input and track data electronically, making stock management a more accurate and streamlined process.  The technology is now in more than half of Morrisons’ stores and should be in all stores by the end of 2013.

Watch Executive Dalton Philips’ recent report on their 2013 Interim Results to hear how the order pad is helping to build their business for years to come.
