My first year experience

Describe your First Year Experience in one or two words: Extraordinarily impactful

I’d love to hear about your career journey. Can you talk about what led you here and your decision to join Thoughtworks? 

I was very impressed with everyone I met throughout the interview process and loved Thoughtworks' mission and culture. I also was excited about the growth opportunity in working for a newly public company.

Ok take me back to your first day at Thoughtworks. Your first week. Your first month. How has your onboarding and First Year Experience differed from previous onboarding at other companies?

The first week was with a small group which allowed us to get to know each other. I'm in operations so it was nice to meet some of our people working as consultants that I wouldn't ordinarily get the opportunity to work with. After the first week, I was assigned a buddy. It's been great to have someone in the finance circle, but outside of my immediate working circle, to ask random questions, but also to learn more about finance processes I'm not heavily involved in. This has allowed me to see the bigger picture, especially since I'm fully remote. Compared to previous onboarding experiences, the First Year Experience has been more intimate and extensive. "Onboarding" didn't end once we wrapped up the first week. I also have the opportunity to meet with other first year Thoughtworkers every First Friday!

What advice would you give to someone who is starting their first day at Thoughtworks?

Be open and ready to learn! Don't be afraid to ask questions. There are so many resources there for you to take advantage of (and so many chats to join.) There is a lot to be excited about working at Thoughtworks!
