Thoughtworks Named One of the 10 Best Companies for Women to Work in Brazil

The award by Great Place To Work recognizes the company's efforts to make technology more inclusive and fair for all

Thoughtworks was ranked 9th among the 30 Best Companies for Women to Work in Brazil, according to the research and consultancy company Great Place to Work®. The achievement recognizes the company's efforts to make technology more inclusive and fair for all. In 2016, Great Place to Work® had named Thoughtworks as one of the top 20 companies for women to work in Brazil.

"We believe that gender justice is an essential cause both to society and to the business world," says Caroline Cintra, managing director of Thoughtworks Brazil. "We strive so that all women can occupy the technology space, whether they are black or white, transgender ou cisgender; homosexual, bisexual or heterosexual."

At Thoughtworks, internal discussion groups and other activities, such as the Gender Justice and Latinas groups, and programs like WiLD (Women in Leadership Development) -- a training program for women in leadership roles or that are developing themselves to fill these roles -- are considered crucial to make the company inclusive and perse. Among the 19 people in Brazil's Strategic Leadership Team, for example, 9 are women -- including the three main management roles of the Brazilian operation.

In 2016, Thoughtworks was named by the Anita Borg Institute as the Winner of the 2016 Top Companies for Women Technologists Program in the United States, ahead of big players like Google and Facebook.
