Many organizations try to minimize change in production IT environments. This frequently leads to behavioral anti-patterns. One example of this is over use of code in configuration to affect the behavior of production systems. Changes that really belong in code end up in configuration files which don’t necessarily pass through the same levels of testing as the application.
