Are you always striving to sharpen your tech skills? While keeping up with all the new tools, languages, and techniques is time consuming, how would do you differentiate truth from hype?

Opinions in tech are never in short supply but, knowing the fundamentals will always remain critical. The Radar is a document of the changes that we think are currently interesting in software development - of things in motion that we think you should pay attention to and consider using in your projects. The Radar offers a pragmatic perspective based on what's working and what's not - Can it scale? Will it lock you in? What are the continuous delivery and integration implications? The Tech Radar examines all of this and more.

Whether you're a developer, an architect, or an IT manager, join us for the first ever Tech Radar Summit in India where, you will meet Martin Fowler and discuss the latest edition of the ThoughtWorks Technology Radar.

09:30 AM - Registration

10:00 AM - Welcome Note - Saptorsi Hore, Chief Operating Officer, ThoughtWorks India

10:15 AM - A Decade of the Radar - Martin Fowler, Chief Scientist, ThoughtWorks

In his keynote, Martin will highlight both the changes in technology and also the many things that have stayed the same. He will also discuss how the Technology Radar is a vehicle to discuss and absorb both changes and points of stability in tech.

11:00 AM - Technology Radar Vol 20: Deep-dive - Bharani Subramaniam, Market Tech Principal, ThoughtWorks and Lakshminarasimhan Sudarshan, Principal Consultant, ThoughtWorks

11:40 AM - Beyond Software into Platform - Padmanabhan Balasubramanian, MD, Goldman Sachs

The world of technology has fundamentally changed. There are numerous platform companies in the last decade that have innovated with new business models. As technologists, one has to rethink code and software as platform components instead of stand-alone products. This talk will focus on the evolution of the financial and technical aspects of platform business, for engineers.

Return of Reconfigurable Computing and its Impact on Software Development Industry

Harshal Hayatnagarkar & Bhimsen Padalkar

Custom-hardware development is known for its difficulties such as development costs, pace of execution, manufacturing costs and issues. And, reconfigurable computing (also known as Field Programmable Gate Arrays or FPGAs) steps in for the rescue - where a hardware design can be reconfigured for various functions, iteratively and incrementally. From a software point of view, it means that an algorithm is converted into a logic design to be run directly as hardware. One of its implications will be the evolution of the definition of full-stack development which will now also include hardware development. In this talk, we will explore the original vision as well as its impact on full-stack development in the field of custom-software development services. We will also briefly discuss ThoughtWorks' current work with TIFR-National Centre for Radio Astrophysics to employ FPGAs for large scale digital signal processing.

2:10 - 2:50 PM

A Journey on XR

Nithya N

Most of us like virtual/augmented reality experience; but how about building such games? This session is about one such journey of how it all started and my experience on XR development. This session also covers the relevance of virtual/augmented reality experience outside the gaming industry.

Embracing a Service Mesh

Krishnaswamy Subramanian & Arvind Thangamani

With the growing number of microservices, it is getting difficult to manage the network operations, observability, release management, etc... to actually benefit from a microservices setup. In this session, we will see how a service mesh can help us in managing our microservices by reducing operational complexity and do it in a decoupled and scalable manner.
