We've long said that being conscious of production helps developers write better code, and we're finding the same applies to coding agents. We recommend production-aware coding agents, which means giving coding agents appropriate access to production observability data and tools. This context helps them plan effective changes, review the impact of deployed changes and assist with investigating production issues. A growing tooling category is making this access practical. This recommendation is similar to agent pipeline responsibility, extending the feedback sensors that keep agents self-correcting during a coding session beyond pre-commit checks and into production. We believe successful development has multiple layers of feedback, and successful agentic engineering gives agents access to all of them.
