A meat proxy is a person who unthinkingly passes on unverified LLM output to a colleague, forwarding it without reading, validating or adding substantive judgment. It's a violation of good AI etiquette and, in our unfortunate experience, a growing problem. When you act as a meat proxy, you shift the verification burden downstream onto the other person and shirk your own responsibility for assuring quality work. This is similar to human-in-the-loop theater, except that it's fake authorship instead of fake approval. In neither case is the human adding value. KDE's draft AI guidelines put it well: "Don't be a meat proxy."
