OpenResearch CLI (orx) is an open-source harness that turns coding agents such as Claude Code into research agents that run experiments in parallel. Each experiment is isolated in its own Git worktree, so attempts don't interfere with one another. All experiments use the same run command, which keeps results comparable, and every run is pinned to an immutable snapshot of the code for reproducibility.
Because orx runs on compute you choose (local, Slurm, Kubernetes or Modal) teams can implement a method from a paper, reproduce its experiments and then test whether its results hold in their enterprise context. This can help identify the gap between academic results and enterprise practice. We think orx is worth assessing as a promising domain-specific harness for narrowing that gap.
