Melbourne, Australia – 9 April 2021 - Thoughtworks, a global software consultancy has today announced that Melbourne-based Principal Technologist, Kiruthika Samapathy has been named a finalist in the engineering category of the 2021 Women Leading Tech Awards in Australia.
The Women Leading Tech Awards, by B&T in partnership with Google, aims to recognise extraordinary female tech talent and to shine a light on the current inequalities in the Australian tech industry, where women only make up 20% of total ICT professionals.
Over the last few years, Kiruthika has been responsible for helping Thoughtworks’ major retail and airline clients undertake digital transformation projects. Leading an all non-male team of engineers and scientists, Kiruthika was able to help the business deliver increased revenue, direct traffic and returning direct customers.
Kiruthika is also a member of the Thoughtworks Australia Technology Advisory Board which helps grow future tech leaders.
Speaking of the award, Kiruthika said “I am both delighted and honoured to receive the Women Leading Tech award for engineering, which is an important way to recognise the contributions of women in tech. I hope my small accomplishment is able to inspire even just one young woman to explore opportunities in STEM.
“Technology is not only changing people’s lives, but has become more important than ever thanks to events like COVID-19. I am passionate about engineering and technology and thrive on working with businesses to help them understand the role technology can play in their organisation.”
