Hunk is an open-source terminal diff viewer for reviewing changes made by coding agents. It displays a GitHub pull request or a Git, Jujutsu or Sapling changeset as a multi-file review with a file sidebar and split or unified layouts. A watch mode refreshes the view as an agent edits the working tree. An agent can load Hunk's agent skill to drive a live review session, jumping to a file or Hunk and adding notes alongside the lines it changed. Reviewers can then read the agent's reasoning next to the relevant code. Those notes distinguish Hunk from syntax-aware diff tools such as Difftastic.
We aren't sure line-by-line human review of agent output will remain the norm, but many teams still need it today: skimping on it can lead to complacency with AI-generated code. The project started in March 2026 and hasn't yet reached version 1.0. Teams that review agent changes in the terminal should try Hunk and assess whether the agent's notes make reviews faster or simply give reviewers more to read.
