Peter Barnes

Peter grew up “modernising” things on stations in outback Australia, and learnt early that the diversity of thought and capability required to continuously evolve - to take things apart, recognise and re-use the good bits while incorporating disruptive technologies and ideas - are keys to survival and commercial success in an unforgiving and unpredictable environment. He has spent the decades since as a hands on technologist, executive and consultant evolving and applying those simple principles to build and help organisations ranging from global enterprises to historical theatres and startups to thrive in a changing world. He’s built monoliths and distributed systems, operationalised machine learning and paid the bills for migrating to cloud. When not in Zoom meetings he enjoys reading research papers with maths he doesn’t fully understand, and making improvised tools in the shed.
