B3, the Brazilian stock exchange, will implement a self-service platform focused on software development. The intention is to increase the speed of response to customers, optimize processes and launch products faster.
The platform will function as a portal where teams will be able to use the tools, codes and templates that have already been tested and available in the development of new solutions.
B3 has teams of developers working on various projects but relies on a single IT area to support the development of solutions. With the new model, the intention is to avoid the feeling of bottlenecks in periods of high demand.
"The possibility of having numerous services directly will transform the company's software engineering process, bringing much more efficiency and reducing the development time of products. The change will contribute to the adoption of the open-source mentality, in which our teams will work even more collaboratively," explains Marcos Albino Rodrigues, Superintendent of IT Architecture, Governance and Innovation (CTO) at B3.
The innovation will mainly serve product development and software engineering teams, as well as professionals from other areas involved in deliveries.
For the project, B3 hired Thoughtworks, a global technology consultancy. The company, which integrates strategy, design and software engineering, is an expert in Backstage, an open-source platform for building developer portals, that will serve as the basis for developing a customized portal for B3's reality.
"The current scenario requires development teams to have an environment in which they can use their time efficiently with accelerated deliveries and reduced costs. In order to increase engineering efficiency, we will use the Backstage tool to create a customized platform that enhances the experience and simplifies day-to-day product development at B3," said Gregório Melo, Director of Business Modernization, Platforms and Cloud at Thoughtworks Brazil.
The objective, according to the executive, is for work to happen more easily and with greater operational efficiency, addressing one of the biggest pain points in the market today: the need to improve results, while reducing costs and accelerating time to market.
Among the benefits expected from the implementation of the self-service platform are greater autonomy for development teams, increased productivity, acceleration in deliveries and meeting customer demands, in addition to creating a healthier and more effective engineering organization by improving developer satisfaction and talent retention.
"This is another one of the projects that is a part of B3's digital transformation strategy. We seek to continuously update our systems to meet the demands of a very dynamic market. We also work to foster an environment of constant innovation, which extracts the best from technology in order to make business viable," said Rodrigo Nardoni, Vice President of Technology and Cybersecurity at B3.
