Blackbox is a simple tool for encrypting specific files while at rest in your source repository. This is particularly useful if you need to store passwords or private keys. Blackbox works with Git, Mercurial and Subversion and uses GPG for the encryption. Each user has their own key, which makes it easy to revoke access on a granular level. There is a lot happening in this space and a few other players to consider including git-crypt and Trousseau.
