Business Development Manager (BDM)

Thoughtworks is searching for a senior Business Development Manager to join our Singapore office to support our growing clients in South East Asia. Business Development Managers at Thoughtworks are responsible for developing and securing a pipeline of new opportunities and establishing an early relationship with the client.

Keeping our focus on growth, we are looking for self-driven individuals who can identify opportunities and are able to position the Thoughtworks brand and value to our customers. 

Job responsibilities

  • Develop a pursuit  plan and a pipeline of new clients and client engagements.
  • Successfully convert new target accounts, creating the foundation for long-term, value-based relationships. Success is nurturing and the sale of win-win value propositions and nurturing executive relationships for continuing business.
  • Ensure the creation and execution of pursuit strategies, and build “win-win” value propositions at the company and at individual levels with clients
  • Approach client executives as true business partners versus software delivery partners, expanding Thoughtworks engagement to encompass the breadth and depth of our capabilities, including where appropriate, our world-leading Global Delivery centers.
  • Must have proven capability, experience in sales, already established relationships, ability to work independently, capability to establish relationships with CXO-level stakeholders and the ability to interact and work effectively across all levels of the customer organizations
  • Recognize that our people and our clients are at the center of everything we do
  • Leverage your own and Tw-provided market research to identify, build a business case for and present your pursuit targets
  • Leverage available tools, events and marketing support to develop pitches, proposals, presentations, etc for target accounts
  • Exploit opportunities for networking and relationship building that arise out of sales activities
  • Guides and supports delivery teams activities in the process of winning new business and growing existing footprint
  • Maintaining strong expertise and knowledge of current and emerging technologies, trends and products
  • Demonstrate financial stewardship in all interactions and existing relationship management, internally and externally
  • Ability to manage consultative and strategic selling to client executives and defend our position and premium through value lens
  • Good understanding of the regional nuances, buyer behaviors, market segments, ability to track competitive activity, build plans to effectively counter it
  • Developing and executing on key account plans and sales programs
  • Nurturing senior client relationships on strategic accounts
  • Achieving established revenue targets in partnership with the larger Client Leadership team.

  • Technology and consulting acumen with the ability to positively translate into business value
  • Strong customer value orientation - you want your clients to succeed with their objectives
  • The expertise to sell premium, not commoditized, services.
  • “Hunter” mentality with a proven record of success driving complex sales through a disciplined process.
  • Demonstrable track record of generating deals in excess of $20-50M 
  • Comfortability and experience engaging with C-level stakeholders at the business and technology level, using a consultative selling approach to maximize the customer outcomes
  • An entrepreneurial drive that ensures you will be able to rally other TWers around necessary activities and be willing to “get your hands dirty” with artifact creation.
  • Experience working in many different executive revenue-generating roles requiring strong business acumen.
  • Experience contributing to a clients’ business using a highly consultative and solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to drive thought leadership and innovation experience for clients.
  • Ability to influence decisions by bringing in relevant industry trends and client stories on innovation and digital disruption.
  • Experience in software development project delivery with the ability to understand the momentum of technical projects and the challenges a highly technical team will face in project execution
