End of Life for Jabber and Support for Older Browsers

The Mingle team is gearing up for another installer release – Mingle 14.2 – in the next few weeks! We are excited to provide our Mingle onsite customers with the many great enhancements that have already come out on Mingle in the cloud. I will be posting a summary of what’s coming in Mingle 14.2 very soon, but in the meantime feel free to check out our blog to see what we’ve pushed to production since April.

With all the great new stuff coming in 14.2, there are a couple of things that will no longer be supported.

Goodbye Jabber…

First, Mingle 14.2 will mark the end of life for Jabber support. However, we do appreciate that many teams communicate daily via chat. We’ve already made it much easier to ping each other directly within Mingle with our new and improved Murmurs, which will be making its way to you in Mingle 14.2. We’ll also be looking at integrations with other popular chat tools since we know not everyone is constantly working in Mingle-and we’re OK with that!

…and older browsers

Second, we wanted to be clear about what browsers we support. We officially support Chrome. However, if you are using the latest version of Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer, you shouldn’t experience significant issues. If you do, please let us know. We are hard at work making Mingle simpler and easier to use, in addition to developing new and exciting features. It is becoming increasingly difficult to re-engineer these improvements to make them compatible with older browsers, like IE9 (for example). Instead, we want to stay focused on providing more value and making Mingle better for you.

Thank you! We will post more information soon about Mingle 14.2 so be on the lookout for that. In the meantime, if you have any support needs please feel free to contact our Support team.
