Thoughtworks is seeking to recruit an experienced design studio manager to traffic manage the resources of the in-house global marketing design team as well as project manage our global brand campaigns. You will be one of the primary contacts for requests for creative and production work from internal clients throughout the business. 

This will be a key role within the global marketing design and brand team and will enable the effective management and planning of the creative team's workflow to ensure that projects are delivered efficiently and to deadlines.

You will be a core member of both the brand and global marketing design team, a 16-person strong global team of highly creative and high performing designers that is responsible for creating Thoughtworks’ new visual identity, advertising assets and more in-house. The global marketing design team sits within our corporate brand and communications team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the smooth operation of the marketing design function and interaction with the wider marketing organization. It will be your responsibility to drive standardized creative briefing processes and build rigor into our approval, campaign management and resource allocation operations. 

Superb stakeholder and resource allocation skills are key to success in this role. You will have proven project and account management experience and be competent in: 

  • managing a group of people to direct a piece of work, 
  • interrogating and improving quality of briefs being assigned to the design team 
  • allocating the right people to the right work
  • monitoring and reporting on the status of the project
  • managing and reporting to stakeholders 

It’s important that the potential candidate is comfortable working within a fast-paced and ever-changing global environment and thrives on daily challenges. You will also need to be calm under pressure and be good at problem-solving.

It would also be a bonus if you had both agency and in-house experience to draw on

Job Responsibilities

  • Identifying and overcoming any roadblocks in projects, working to find solutions, including exploring options for using external freelancers, outsourced agencies, etc.
  • Make sure that work is distributed equally and fairly within the creative teams, constantly monitor workloads and longer-term designer availability to balance with project deadlines 
  • Interrogate creative briefs from our internal clients, to ensure deadlines are reasonable and requirements are clear
  • Ensuring the stages of the project are met according to client and creative brief, budget, resource and deadline deliverables
  • Working across multiple projects and ensuring all parties are informed of progress and problems
  • Building effective relationships across teams and internal stakeholders (regional heads of marketing, heads of customer marketing and employer brand)
  • Leading and coordinating campaigns from initial stages through to delivery, keeping ongoing projects on track to ensure they meet deadlines, intervening where needed and consistently communicating with stakeholders
  • Being an evangelist for the brand and educating relevant teams on Thoughtworks brand 

Job qualifications

Technical skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 10+ years of experience in marketing and/or advertising, project management and traffic management within a design or advertising agency or a related position
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of design studios, creative teams  and broad understanding of brand development, strategic planning, print and digital production process

Professional skills

  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills 
  • Must be proactive, collaborative, driven and seek excellence in execution of tasks
  • Strong project management skills, organizational skills and time-management skills
  • Proven track record with strong and effective customer relationships and solution delivery
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; experience and ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of administrative software, including Google, Monday.com plus basic working knowledge of design or development skills/software (Adobe Creative Suite, including In Design and Photoshop, etc.)
  • Experience of working as part of a global team and an appreciation of cultural differences
  • As this is a global team we will need some flexibility around working hours as there will be some meetings outside of 09:00 to 17:00
  • A collaborator who can guide and motivate team members
  • Able to negotiate with multiple stakeholders at all levels whilst under pressure
  • Experience in daily and longer-term project planning and resourcing
