Daniel Gibson

Graduate Software Consultant

I'm a proud Dharawal man from the Illawarra. As a software consultant I am continually learning about good software development practices and steering my own growth alongside my peers.

I'm passionate about creating ongoing value for Australian and Torres Strait Islander peoples through the use of technology, and continually strive to enable people in this workspace.

The Interview

One of the most interesting stories I recall from my time at ThoughtWorks was when

I was an intern. I had little to no understanding about programming in general, and no grasp on consultancy or how to provide it. ThoughtWorks enabled me to grow from a university student with zero understanding about the difference between C# and JavaScript, to a confident full-stack developer who is knowledgeable regarding consultation expectations.

With ThoughtWorks, I've visited

Pune, India as a graduate. Both Melbourne and Brisbane, Australia for work.

I came to find ThoughtWorks by

a company called CareerTrackers, who provide Indigenous Australian university students with the capability to enter the a highly corporate world.

My geeky passion is

definitely virtual reality. I've had a strong passion in this area since I was in high school, and have recently been invested in machine learning.

The best advice I can give a current or future ThoughtWorker is

speak your mind with other ThoughtWorkers. It's a safe environment and speaking from experience, it's very helpful to bounce concepts back and forth between colleagues.
