Disabled People’s Association & Muscular dystrophy association

Transforming the traditional fundraising process

The Disabled People’s Association (DPA) advocates on behalf of and with persons with disabilities (PWD) to engage with stakeholders, policy makers and other interested parties and ensure PWD are involved in the consultation, implementation and evaluation of policies and programs that affect PWD.

DPA aims to create awareness about as well as engage people, with or without disabilities, in discussions about disability through public education, training, consultative services, research and advocacy.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore), MDAS, is a self-help organisation which is focused on empowering people with Muscular Dystrophy. MDAS focuses on providing care & support to those with Muscular Dystrophy, provide health and public education, and support medical research. In view of the challenges faced by people with Muscular Dystrophy and their families, MDAS aims to render its fullest support by extending its membership privileges to all children, youth and adults with Muscular Dystrophy.

The value in working with ThoughtWorks was firstly questioning the way we did things. Working together in a group was such a good learning process because having worked with other companies before, it’s usually just a one directional process. The good thing with technology here is that if it can lessen the workload and the burden on staff, then we have more time to focus on the advocacy work
