US Finance Manager

We are looking for...

A Finance Manager who will be a key player in driving the financial, commercial and operational management success of ThoughtWorks in United States (US). The $50M+ US business manages work sold within US borders and to be performed in India and China. The ideal candidate will have strong financial skills and commercial awareness. He/she will be able to combine this with a proactive and collaborative style that enables them to work closely across all levels and functions in the NA organization.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to...

• Leading the day-to-day financial management of US business regions. This will include responsibility for the following activities;
• Leading month-end close activities, revenue recognition, payroll reconciliation, tax compliance, balance sheet reconciliation and allocation of costs across projects;
• Developing and distributing US regional management reporting packages to US Market Principals and budget holders;
• Collaborate with Global Controller with cash flow management including managing billing & collections of US clients;
• Work with Regional Director of Finance & Operations in developing Annual Plan and Quarterly Forecasts for US regions;
• Work with Client Account teams to manage the financial performance of engagements and drive improvements in profitability and working capital management;
• Support TW Sales Leaders / functions with evaluation of proposals. Work with Regional Director of Finance & Operations to develop and approve commercial arrangements;
• Provide daily direction to the North America Finance team consisting of five members;
• Collaboration with the wider Global Finance team to develop best practices;
• Provide leadership to other NA Operational and Support activities as appropriate;
• Ad-hoc support to the TW CFO, TW Global Controller, and US Managing Director

Report to the Regional Director of Finance and Operations. In keeping with the size and distinct culture of ThoughtWorks, successful candidates will be flexible and proactive and should be comfortable working at both a hands-on detail level and a longer-term strategic level. This role may require travel (within United States).

Preferred candidates will have the following knowledge, skills, and experience...

• A track record of financial management experience (most likely 5-10 years);
• The comfort, desire and ability to step beyond Finance and participate in the wider commercial management of a Professional Services business. Relevant sector experience would be valuable in this respect;
• Experience of working at the national level with a globally run business would be helpful;
• Experience in the use of Finance systems (preferably PeopleSoft) and the ability to utilize technology to create focused management information.
• A positive, can-do attitude and the proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to an ever-changing business environment.
• A finance or accounting Bachelor of Science degree required
