All regular full-time US-based employees are eligible for 80/60, 90/70 or 100/70 PPO plans in the PHCS Network. Health insurance is effective from the start date of employment. For individual coverage, employees pay $12/month for the 80/60 plan, $64.89/month for the 90/70 plan and $108.15/month for the 100/70 plan. ThoughtWorks pays a portion of the premium for qualified dependents and/or domestic partners enrolled in the plan, except for spouses or domestic partners who are eligible for health insurance through their own employer. Employee premiums are paid via payroll deduction. All plans include a three-tiered prescription drug program, including a mail order service for maintenance drugs. There is an annual reimbursement of up to 50% of $500 of expenses through the Health and Well-Being Program, which promotes physical and mental fitness.
Our two dental plans are basic fee-for-service plans, which cover eligible dental services up to $1500 per year, based on a 100/80/50 schedule of payments with a small deductible. The higher plan provides an adult orthodontia benefit, and allows for an additional cleaning. There is no network, so any licensed dental provider is covered. The cost of dental insurance for employees and dependents is covered under the health plan, but can be elected as stand-alone.
All regular full-time employees may receive vision care reimbursements up to $250 annually. Any eye-care professional may be used. Vision care is only available for dependents under the 100/70 health plan. A Vision Care Savings plan is available to employees, as well as to dependents covered under the health plan available at no additional cost. This allows visits to selected providers at a discounted cost for exams and hardware.
You are eligible for the 401(k) plan at the beginning of the next quarter following your start date. Enrollment periods are the first day of January, April, July and October. The plan is administered by Fidelity Investments.
ThoughtWorks provides each regular full-time employee with basic life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance policies each in the amount of $65,000. In addition to the basic life insurance provided by ThoughtWorks, each employee has the option to purchase supplemental life insurance at a group rate.
Health Care Reimbursement allows you to reimburse yourself with pre-tax dollars to pay for certain medical expenses not covered (or partially covered) by medical or dental insurance for you and/or your dependents. Dependent Care Reimbursement allows you to reimburse yourself with pre-tax dollars for care of a dependent including, baby-sitter, day care center, nursery school, after-school care, and care for eligible adult qualifying as a dependent. Parking and Transportation Reimbursement allows you to reimburse yourself with pre-tax dollars to pay for parking and transit passes for commuting to and from the workplace. New employees are eligible to participate on the first of the month following their start date.
ThoughtWorks provides both short-term and long-term disability coverage to employees at no charge to the employee. If you are unable to work due to an injury or illness, disability insurance would pay you a portion of your salary until you are able to return to work. Short-term disability pays 60% of your weekly salary for up to 13 weeks. Long-term disability pays 60% of your monthly salary ($15,000 max.) until age 65.
Employees who have been employed for 12 continuous months in a full-time status are eligible to take up to six weeks of paid leave for the birth or adoption of a child. Birth mothers are eligible to take six weeks off at 100% of their weekly salary (including short-term disability payments). Birth fathers and adoptive parents are eligible to take two weeks off at 100% of their weekly salary. Birth parents are also eligible for two weeks of bonus time-off if they return to work for six months following the birth of their child. Adoptive parents are eligible for two weeks off at 100% of their weekly salary plus $2000 in adoption assistance to help with adoption related expenses.
EAP is a free 24-hour confidential work-life balance program that assists employees and their families with finding solutions for everyday work and home issues, including emotional and physical well-being. Resources are available via phone, online, and face-to-face.
This program is available to all employees when traveling at least 100 miles from home for business or pleasure, and experience a medical emergency. The program helps to coordinate a variety of services such as prescription replacement and emergency medical evacuation to a medical facility.
Employees who have been employed for 12 months and have worked 1250 hours are eligible to take up to 12 weeks unpaid leave of absence for qualifying family/medical reasons. Employees may continue their benefits during that time.
Employees who are victims of domestic or sexual violence are eligible to take up to 12 weeks unpaid leave of absence for medical, legal, counseling, and safety planning reasons. Employees may continue their benefits during that time.
Employees with a clear business need for home internet access will be reimbursed for DSL or Broadband Internet Access at their home, depending on what is available in the area. ThoughtWorks will cover up to $200 of all necessary hardware and installation costs. ThoughtWorks will also reimburse you for the monthly service cost, for up to $50 per month. This need must be explained to and approved by one’s supervisor/Project Manager.
As part of the standard equipment for consultants, ThoughtWorks provides broadband wireless PCMIA cards for laptops and pays the monthly service. In an effort to make it more convenient to access ThoughtWorks e-mail and other resources, these cards have unlimited data access plans, near DSL speeds, and coverage across the United States, wherever the Verizon network is accessible. Consultants must choose between the home DSL wire line service and the wireless card.
ThoughtWorks will reimburse each employee up to $85 per month for mass transit commuting expenses to and from the workplace.
All regular full-time employees are eligible to receive company cell phones with text messaging capability. ThoughtWorks pays for up to 900 anytime minutes per month of cell phone usage. There are no roaming fees or long distances charges in the United States.
All regular full-time employees are issued AT&T calling cards for business use.
All regular full-time employees are eligible to apply for a company sponsored credit card. The credit card is Diners Club on a MasterCard platform and is accepted everywhere MasterCard is accepted. ThoughtWorks will reimburse for the annual fee to enroll in the Diner's reward program.
ThoughtWorks will provide up to $5000 in relocation assistance for employees who do not currently reside in one of our home office cities (Chicago, New York, or San Francisco), but wish relocate to one. Assistance will also be provided for employees willing to relocate to Detroit or Philadelphia where we have large projects.
Regular full-time employees are eligible for paid vacation leave based on accrual. Vacation time is cumulative up to the lesser of 150% of your annual vacation allowance, or 30 days. Employees are eligible for one week of unpaid vacation time each year, subject to the requirements of their project/department.
New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday), and Christmas Day.
Seven sick/personal days are available per calendar year. These are non-cumulative.
