Our people

Since 1993, ThoughtWorks has been seeking out and hiring the most talented and passionate software experts on the planet. Linked by technical aptitude and every type of virtual communication imaginable, over 1,300 of us now proudly call ourselves ThoughtWorkers. Each of us brings a unique background and perspective, but we share a core set of values that includes dedication to advancing the art of software engineering.

The combination of diversity and intellect in our people has created a potent cocktail of ideas, energy, innovation and achievement. It’s what makes ThoughtWorks a very stimulating place to work. Our books and blogs can give you a feel for the knowledge and enthusiasm of our people, but can hardly transmit the sheer exhilaration of being part of a ThoughtWorks project team. Being a ThoughtWorker means challenging assumptions, questioning the status quo and redefining what's possible.

It isn't easy to build this kind of organization in today's world of short-term focus driven by fast profit. We consider it part of our mission to sustain and improve ThoughtWorks as a place where exceptional people have an exceptional experience - one that becomes so much a part of them that it's hard for them to imagine being anywhere else.

What does this mean for our clients?

Every day, our enthusiasm, experience and expertise translate into concrete value for our clients. What really excites us, what makes us get out of bed at 4 am for a global conference call, is the thought that what we do makes a difference. We ask our clients (sometimes difficult) questions – why is that needed? Have you thought about it this way? – because we are partners, not just a vendor. We’re driven by the belief that technology innovation, correctly applied, creates rapid, real and lasting value for our clients, their customers, and society itself.
