Agile pioneer ThoughtWorks extends footprint to North India - Inaugurates office in Gurgaon

03 June 2010 - Gurgaon, India - ThoughtWorks, Agile pioneer and leading global IT professional services firm, has commenced operations in Gurgaon. A leader in applying Agile and Lean practices with a view to delivering software excellence to customers globally, this will be the fourth city where they have established operations in India. With a current strength of 600 employees and offices across Bangalore, Pune and Chennai, this expansion into Gurgaon is a step to further strengthen and expand ThoughtWorks’ footprint in India. This office will be headed by newly appointed General Manager, Anand Keshavan, who comes with 25 years of experience in the software industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mahesh Baxi, Managing Director, ThoughtWorks India, said, “We have seen increasing demand in the local market, especially in our consulting business, over the last few years. Moving up north is a strategic move for us to increase our ability to serve customers located in the NCR region. We will be actively hiring, and are looking to attract the talent pool of passionate technologists here.”

Mahesh added, “We have come across an increasing number of people wanting to move back to their home base in the NCR region, but who have hesitated due to the dearth of good work options in a pure technology environment. As a thought-leader in the Agile space, and an advocate of new and emerging technologies, ThoughtWorks provides an ideal ecosystem for the tech community to interact, share ideas and thrive.”
ThoughtWorks set up its first office in Bangalore in 2001, and now has five centres in India, including the Gurgaon centre. As a part of their ongoing commitment to India as a strategic asset, they hope to scale up their operations in Gurgaon to 150 people in the next 18 months.

“Our Bangalore, Pune & Chennai offices have contributed enormously to our global success, and we are looking forward to our new Gurgaon operations to extend this advantage. We believe that the software industry is undergoing a profound shift towards quality and effectiveness. This revolution requires a focus on talented people working in new cooperative ways. Gurgaon has already emerged on the world stage as a hub for world class talent and we look forward to being part of this great city for decades to come," said Neville Roy Singham, Founder & Chairman, ThoughtWorks.
