In the past few years, agile development processes have gained increasing levels of adoption across all kinds of enterprises – small lean start ups to multinational corporations. Adapting to agile principles and practices can be particularly difficult for medium to large enterprises, where they can expose existing problems within the organization, and put new strains on weak points.
One area where this is common is product management. Practitioners of product management find themselves struggling to balance the need for a strategic product roadmap, while simultaneously addressing the budgetary and resource constraints of working within a release and sprint framework. The presenter will share an interesting case study where an excellent and successful agile team became de-motivated by a lack of overall product direction. He will describe how they bounced back by extending the agile principles beyond the realm of the development team, taking them into the product road mapping process, as managed by product owners and business sponsors.
